Language certifications

At the Language Center of Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, you can prepare for and take certifications in English and French as a Foreign Language (FLE).

You may prepare for TOEFL, TOEIC, and CLES in English, as well as DELF-DALF in FLE. To register for preparation courses, please visit our dedicated language courses page.

The certifications that can be taken at the Language Center are the CLES (English) and the DELF-DALF (FLE).

Registration

CLES

The Certificat de Compétences en Langues de l’Enseignement Supérieur (CLES) is a national certification accredited by the French Ministry of National Education and Higher Education. It is open to all candidates.

This certification is free of charge for students and staff of Université Sorbonne Paris Nord. It is also open to external candidates, who must pay a fee of €45 for registration.

The Language Center of Université Sorbonne Paris Nord offers three sessions per year (March, May, and December) for levels B1 and B2.

Registration for DELF-DALF

The Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française (DELF) and the Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française (DALF) are official diplomas issued by the French Ministry of National Education. They certify candidates’ proficiency in French and are recognized internationally.

These diplomas are divided into six independent levels, corresponding to the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of the Council of Europe. Each diploma consists of tests assessing four language skills: listening comprehension, speaking, reading comprehension, and writing.

The Language Center of Université Sorbonne Paris Nord offers two sessions per year, in May and December, for levels A1 to C2, at the following fees:

A1: €100 A2: €125 B1: €140 B2: €165 C1: €205 C2: €205

Before registering at our examination center, please read our personal data processing policy. Please also note that registration can only be canceled or postponed in case of medical reasons, upon presentation of official proof.

Exam results are sent to candidates by email within two to three weeks after the exam session. Diplomas are issued within a maximum of three months after the results are emailed. While waiting for the diploma, a certificate of achievement can be issued upon request as soon as results are published.

To register:

  1. Complete the online registration form.
  2. Send a copy of your ID to: sec-sel@univ-paris13.fr.
  3. Once your form and ID have been received, you will receive an email with instructions to proceed with payment of the registration fee.
